The Chaos Map is a primitive “mental map” — a two-dimensional knowledge space to understand ideas within.

I believe we are approaching the threshold of how far one-dimensional knowledge and technology can take us. I use the Chaos Map and this occasional newsletter to explore more spatial alternative ways of thinking about life and work.

For a complete overview of the Chaos Map and how it maps ideas, see:

Guide to the Chaos Map

I use the Chaos Map like a gameboard for placing ideas, people, and movements in meaningful relation to each other. It’s especially useful for integrating ideas I’d previously thought were incompatible.

At Pathwright, it makes a thousand small decisions a little easier by providing a clearer picture of where our work is and how each of us uniquely contributes.

If you have a suggestion, interesting application, or critique I’d like to hear, send me an email or book a live conversation.

Warmly,
Paul N. Johnson
